Nestled at the north end of the Columbia Valley between the Canadian Rockies and the Purcells, Golden’s history focuses heavily on the CPR railway (seen at the left side of the image) and the logging industry (the mill is shown on the right hand side of the image).

Over recent years adventure tourism has become increasingly important to the town with the development of Kicking Horse Resort (seen top left) as well as many other activities relying on the two rivers and endless peaks that surround the town.
